COVID-19: Nigerians to enjoy two months free electricity supply – DisCos

\ Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) have offered to supply electricity free of charge for two months to all Nigerians. The gesture is to cushion the effects of the COVID -19 lockdown on the customers, according to the statement, which the Executive Director (Research & Advocacy) Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED ) Barrister Sunday Oduntan issued Thursday. The DisCos, he said, recognize the challenging effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the economic and daily lives of our customers. ANED noted that “In fulfillment of our commitments to the nation, we hereby align ourselves with the efforts of the National Assembly and the Federal Executive to mitigate the hardships that are currently being borne by our customers and other citizens all over the country. “We commend the Federal Legislators, the Executive arm and The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for their initiative and we are committed to working with them to ensure

Davido’s Fiancee Chioma Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Nigerian popular musician, Davido, has taken to  Twitter  to announce that his fiancee Chioma has tested positive for coronavirus. The singer posted Friday on his  verified Twitter account  saying the mother of his child tested positive despite not showing any symptoms. ” Hey everyone ! I came back recently from America after canceling the tour. My fiancé Chioma also came back from London recently with our baby. We had no symptoms and still both feel perfectly fine but because of our recent travel history we decided to take ourselves and our all.” Davido Tweeted. “Close associates we’ve come in recent contact with for the COVID-19 test on the 25th of March. Unfortunately, my fiancé’s results came back positive while all 31 others tested have come back  negative  including our baby. We are however doing perfectly fine and she is even still… ” He added. Our workforce not enough to battle COVID-19 – NMA

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra State has called on the governor of the state, Willie Obiano to recruit more medical personnel in the state to assist in battling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. It also demanded immediate procurement of Personal Protective Equipment at the various emergency operation centers in readiness for any outbreak in the state. Addressing newsmen on Friday in Onitsha, Chairman of the body, Dr. Emmanuel Monago further called on the government to consider shutting down all markets in the state as part of the measures to avert the pandemic. Monago who was represented by his Vice, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu applauded the government’s response to the scourge, describing it as well-articulated and valid. He said, “We need staff, I don’t know the staff strength of doctors in the civil service, but I’m sure they are not many.
